Recently, Solomon had two proms to go to and not suit. Well, he did have a suit that swallowed him and he wanted a hipper, (my word, not his...obviously) sleeker look. So, once we started shopping for suits, I found out that he was trying to cost me way more than my daughter who was going to the prom too. (We had favor in the marketplace, but that is another story for another time.) He is a sensible lad though, so instead of a suit, he opted for a new suit jacket that fit well and matched a pair of pants he already had. Although, he is not short, short.....he is not tall, tall either and he cannot stand his pants to be over his shoes at all. So, we went to have them tailored (also another story for another time...whew). When we went to pick them up a couple of days later, we were in a hurry because it was prom day. So, I sent him in (my kids do not have a hurry gear, btw) and after waiting a few minutes, I looked through the glass and he was seated in the waiting area. Ok...I wondered what was taking them so long beccause I knew the pants were done. I kept glancing and he kept sitting. Finally, my hurry gear could'nt take it anymore and I called him and asked what was taking so long. He said he was waiting for someone to notice he was there. The attendant was not in the front and did not even know he was waiting. "Do you see a bell?, I asked. "Yes.," he said. "RING THE BELL!" I didn't yell, but said it with a hurried emphasis.
This got me to thinking about the veil that was torn when Jesus yielded his spirit. Because of Jesus, we no longer have to go through any barrier to go to God or talk to Him; there is no waiting and we can go straight in. We have total access. If we have total access, why don't we use it more? Solomon went in and sat down at the cleaners and did'nt use his access to that bell to get anybody's attention. So, what happened? Nothing. He sat there. We can go straight to the God that wants to be a part of every tiny detail of our lives. He loves us so much that it is hard for us to even understand, but we try to do things on our on or worse, we do nothing.
Be anxious for nothing,
but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
Phillipians 4:6
There's more though. When we make our requessts known to Him, when we talk to Him, when we let Him in on the things going on in our lives, when we boldly go into the throneroom of grace, He pays attention, He hears us, He wants to help us, and He does.
and the peace of God,
which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Phillipians 4:7
I don't know about you, but I need the peace of God to guard my heart and mind. Ring the Bell!! We don't have to wait in the waiting room to be noticed. Go straight in, straight to Him and let him know what is going on and let Him be God in your life and in every situation.
